Swimming level

In order to become a member of our club, we expect you to have a basic level of swimming. Our practices do not include swimming lessons for inexperienced swimmers. Our pool in Maastricht offers swimming lessons for adults, more information can be found on their website.

How do I become a member?

1. UM SPORTS membership

To become a member of M.S.Z.V. Tiburón, you need both an M.S.Z.V. Tiburón membership and a UM SPORTS membership.

You can have any UM SPORTS membership, whether it is a Sports, Gym, or All-in-One membership. The only requirement is that the duration of your UM SPORTS membership is either a Semester or Year membership. Unfortunately, members with a Monthly UM SPORTS membership are not eligible to join the association. For more information about UM SPORTS memberships and rates, please visit the UM SPORTS rates page.

A UM SPORTS membership is required because UM SPORTS and MUSST actively support and subsidize student sports associations. This support helps make sports accessible and affordable for all members.

For example, the subsidy contributes to costs such as qualified trainers, coaching, and sports facilities/accommodation. Funding comes partly from the UM SPORTS memberships that students purchase and partly from subsidies provided by Maastricht University.

NOTE: At the beginning of the semester, we will send you multiple reminders to buy a UM Sports card. You risk getting a fine when you do not have one by the communicated deadline.

  2. M.S.Z.V. Tiburón membership

Membership fees of Tiburón

Next to the UM Sports membership, you pay a contribution fee to M.S.Z.V. Tiburón if you become a member. We distinguish between the following memberships:

• Full academic year, signed up before the first of October: €52
• Full academic year, signed up after the first of October: €57
• Half year membership, Sep-Jan or Feb-Aug: €39

Since every new member receives a Tiburón T-shirt, these fees include a T-shirt worth € 7,50. When a membership is renewed, these costs will not be charged again.

NOTE: At the end of the academic year, your membership will be automatically renewed for a full year. If you do not want to renew your membership, send us an email before August 31 23:59 CEST. You will receive multiple reminders from us regarding this deadline.
