1. Who are you and what are you up to, when you are not spending Time with Tiburon?
Hey Sharks! My name is Sanne Busch and I am your swim coordinator this year. Since it is my second year at Tiburón, some of you might not know me, but that is going to change now. I am 21 years old and born and raised in Dordrecht, a city nearby Rotterdam. Last year I came to Maastricht to study Health sciences. I just started my second year with a specialization in prevention and health. I really like to keep myself busy, so besides studying or spending time with Tiburón I really like to hang out with friends, go to a terrace, chill in the park or have a day trip to the beach.
2. What made you decide to learn how to swim like a shark rather than float like a turtle?
There are a lot of things in life I am not sure about, but one thing I know for sure; I love swimming. Honestly, I could not get around it. Growing up in a lovely family with one shared big passion, swimming. Since I was able to walk, we went to the swimming pool every Sunday. My parents told me that they couldn’t get me out of the water. So, after achieving my swimming diploma (I think I was seven years old) I joined MNC Dordrecht as a swimmer and a water polo player. Since that day swimming has always been a big part of my life. I left my parental house when I was 16 years old to swim in Eindhoven. You could find me in the water every single day and after all those years I’m still in love with it. When I was leaving Eindhoven, I knew one thing for sure, I was going to join the student swimming association! So that is how I became a shark, and I absolutely love being one!
3. Why did you decide to become a board member?
I wrote a tough practice with some sharks during the training weekend last year. Some of them told me that I had to sign-up for the board as a swimming coordinator. I was doubting it for a long time but in the end, I had the feeling that I had to do it. And as you can see, I did it!
4. What is your position actually about? What are you doing?
As the swimming coordinator, I do everything that involves swimming. So, I am writing the practices, keeping in touch with our coaches, making sure that most of the sharks sign-up for the NSZK and making sure that everything is clear for competitions so that we can swim super-fast and celebrate it with the themed party!
5. What is your favourite Tiburón memory?
That is a very good question! Maybe it is my duty to say this, but I would say NSZK Maastricht. This was actually my first NSZK and it was just amazing. After a night with maybe a bit too many beers… I still tried to swim super fast and cheer for the team! After the competition, we had the themed party with a cantus and during the party, they told us the final result. At that moment I had a shift at the bar when I heard someone scream that Tiburón won this competition, I left the bar and jumped on the stage and we were screaming and singing our club song so loud, I was so proud to be a part of this team!
6. What are you looking forward to the most during the Up Coming year?
I can’t wait to go to all the NSZK’s together and show everyone what we got! And, of course, I can’t wait to have an amazing board year with my fellow board members and get the best out of this year!
