As promised last week, today our secretary Jana is introducing herself on our blog! Don’t forget to check out our Instagram to see what she is up to all day and be able to ask her some questions. And now, enjoy reading the blog!
1. Who are you and what are you up to, when you are not spending Time with Tiburón?
Hello my fellow sharkies! As you might have seen under some of the mails already, my name is Jana Kröse and I will be the secretary of this year. Originally, I am from Mönchengladbach in Germany, not a very pretty city. That is why I decided to move to Maastricht for my studies 4 years ago (the fact that it has already been 4 years now shocked me right now haha). Currently, I am in the second year of the Master in Biomedical Sciences, which I actually enjoy a lot. If I have some free time next to my board duties and my studies, you will most likely find me chilling with my friends on a terrace, in the park or on a day trip. If I actually have the time I also enjoy doing everything that has to do with being creative.
2. What made you decide to learn how to swim like a shark rather than float like a turtle?
Well, unlike most of my fellow boardies, I did not swim with another team before I joined Tiburón. During high school we had swimming lessons for 6 years, which I always enjoyed and I kept on swimming for myself after the lessons stopped. So when I came to Maastricht I thought why not give it a try. And let me tell you, in the beginning it was really tough but by now I really enjoy it and am looking forward to every practice. And I am not gonna lie, all the parties and fun activities with the other sharkies also made it a very easy decision to join Tiburón, it improved my student life a lot!
3. Why did you decide to become a board member?
Hahaha mhm you might want to ask out lovely president Marie how she actually convinced me. Let’s say there were some drinks and convincing talks involved. But no, I actually thought about doing board year for quite a while already and then during the end of last year we had another really fun Tiburón event and Lea, Jordi and me made a spontaneous decision to apply. And what should I say, well, here we are! But so far it has been lots of fun and I am looking forward to the rest of the year.
4. What is your position actually about? What are you doing?
In my position as secretary I am responsible for all the communication with the members, so baiscally answering all your questions and sending all the e-mails with the important information to you! Next to that I also write the newsletters and together with my HAAIcie I design three small newsletters about Tiburón per year. So if you are interested in helping me out with that do not hesitate to hit me up hehe, it is a lot of fun. Oh and almost forgot, there are also blog posts published on our website which I will write throughout the year. And otherwise just enjoying the practices and parties with all of you!
5. What is your favourite Tiburón memory?
Right now I regret wanting to include this question in the introduction blogs… There are just so many great memories I have about Tiburón. But the most memorable ones are the members weekends. Those weekends are just so much fun and you really feel the Tiburón spirit there and that we are all one big team, almost like a second family. Cheesy but true, very true and I am sure after this year you will feel the same about it.
6. What are you looking forward to the most during the up coming year?
I can’t wait for all the activities to finally take place offline again! Especially the competitions and cantuses. And, of course, I can not wait to have an amazing board year with my fellow boardies and get the best out of this year for all of you!
