1. Who are you and what are you up to, when you are not spending Time with Tiburón?
Hello sharkies, it is my turn to introduce myself to you ;). I am Thibault, 21 years old and half French-Half Belgian. In 2019 I started my Bachelor’s in economics and business economics here in Maastricht.
When I am not studying and not spending time with Tiburón or on my board duties (there is not much time left) I like to do extra swimming, biking and running but also meet up with friends, and enjoy beers with the boys.
2. What made you decide to learn how to swim like a shark rather than float like a turtle?
Before starting swimming I was playing football and hockey but unfortunately due to ankle issues, I had to stop. So, four years ago, I started triathlon starting from nowhere based on the advice of my physio. I was not able to swim 100 meters. However, training by training I enjoyed it and I started being addicted to triathlon and especially swimming. During my last years of high school, I had the chance to participate in three Belgian championships. When I came to Maastricht I knew that I couldn’t do competitively triathlon anymore with the study workload so I started my Tiburón experience and I definitely recommend this choice to everyone.
3. Why did you decide to become a board member?
I really enjoyed being part of Tiburón as a member during the two years. But this year was special. During the activities done by the former activity coordinator, I found my current friend group. Since that, the activities from the club are important to me. Having the chance to propose to new members this kind of opportunity pushed me to join the board as an activity coordinator
4. What is your position actually about? What are you doing?
Activity Coordinator is a quite straightforward explanation of my job. I take care of all the activities happening outside of the pool, like the intro weekend, Dinner at the pool… To make these activities happen I have my activity committee with whom I meet every 2 or 3 weeks to organize and plan everything for the upcoming events. So, if any of you are still interested in joining the Accie let me know, we are looking for new members!
5. What is your favourite Tiburón memory?
Last year’s introduction weekend. This was the first offline activity in a long time. I had the chance to experience my first cantus and as I mentioned before, I had the chance to find my current friend group there along with some incredible people. Other than that, there is the member’s weekend. For that weekend, we rented a huge house and went there with everyone. There we had a weekend filled with parties, games, cantus and simply a lot of fun.
6. What are you looking forward to the most during the Up Coming year?
As Activity Co I am of course looking forward to all the amazing real-life activities. Also, I am more than happy to spend this year with my fellow board members and am excited to see what this year brings us.
