Hello dear Sharks! The 19th Board of Tiburón was installed on Wednesday 18 September and we are introducing ourselves to you one by one in the Board Introduction blogs. It is already time for part three of the Board Introduction-series, and in this edition our brand new treasurer Sofie will tell you more about herself:
Hi everyone!
My name is Sofie and I’m 19 years old. I grew up in Nijmegen, a city in the east of this lovely country. 
Currently, I’m in my second year of the Bachelor Biomedical Sciences and for those who are wondering, no I did not want to study Medicine ?
For the people who don’t know me, I would describe myself as an organized chaos. Personality wise I can be a bit all over the place, but I still have my organised moments. Luckily, my organised part is taking care of my role as treasurer. At least most of the time…
I have always liked swimming. Maybe some of you will recognise this feeling, but whenever I see a pool I feel like the water is whispering to me to just jump in it (although now that I write it down, it’s sounds a bit weird). Somehow, I can’t remember why, I decided not to continue swimming after I got my diplomas as a kid. However, in the summer when I turned 16, I rediscovered my love for swimming and decided to join a local swimming association. I hadn’t swum the strokes freestyle and backstroke for ages, so at the beginning I felt like I was dying after swimming 25 meters freestyle (for the people in lane 1 who might feel the same like I did, as long as you persist you will get better!).
When I started my studies here in Maastricht, I knew I wanted to continue swimming, so I joined Tiburón. Now a year later I am your new Treasurer. This entails that I will be the one collecting your money (please pay otherwise I have to come and haunt you) and keeping track of our finances. I will make sure you get your money’s worth by providing the committees with a budget, who in turn can spend their money on you.
In addition, I am also in charge of the merchandise together with the Shopcie. First on the list for this year are new bathing suits and trunks, so get excited for those! If you have any questions or if you have some jawsome ideas for new merchandise, don’t be afraid to come up to me!
